My Approach

In designing MoodTracker, I embraced a user-first design strategy focused on emotional wellness and self-reflection. The goal was to create a calming, personal space where users could track their mood, notice patterns, and build emotional awareness. The interface is soft, intuitive, and non-intrusive — making it easy for anyone to build a daily habit of checking in with themselves.

Vision and Innovation

MoodTracker is more than just a mood tracker — it’s a mental wellness companion tailored to modern life. Our vision is to encourage emotional literacy and inner balance by helping users visualize how they feel, why they feel that way, and what triggers their emotional highs and lows. By turning introspection into a simple, visual activity, we empower users to take small steps toward better mental health.

Identifying Unique Challenges

We discovered that many people struggle to express their feelings or understand their emotional patterns over time. Most existing apps were either too clinical or too cluttered. Another challenge was ensuring that the app feels safe and welcoming — especially for younger users or those new to mental health tools.

Resolving Complex Problems

MoodTracker solves these challenges with an elegant journaling flow. Users choose from expressive mood icons, tags (like “tired,” “excited,” “anxious”), and optional notes. Over time, they can view insights through charts, weekly overviews, and emotion maps — all presented visually, with no pressure or judgment. Every design element, from font to color scheme, was chosen to promote emotional clarity and peace of mind.

User-Centric Design

The interface prioritizes calm interaction and smooth experiences. A pastel palette, soft animations, and minimal text reduce cognitive load. The check-in takes less than 30 seconds, encouraging consistency. Whether users are reflecting on a stressful day or celebrating a good moment, Wajdi meets them where they are — without overwhelm.

Accessibility and Optimization

MoodTracker is lightweight, fast, and optimized for both low-end and modern smartphones. It includes a an offline usage, and privacy-first storage. Accessibility features include dark mode, large text support, and a calming mode for anxious users.

Conclusion

MoodTracker — it’s a mindful step toward emotional clarity and self-care. Designed with empathy and simplicity, it supports users in better understanding their feelings, building resilience, and finding calm in their daily routine. By putting wellness in the palm of your hand, MoodTracker helps you stay connected to what truly matters — your emotional well-being.
