My Approach

In designing WorkWise, I focused on building a user-friendly, Desktop-ready employee management that meets the needs of modern teams. The goal was to create a clear, centralized space where organizations can manage internal contact information, departments, and team structures — all while supporting team members with features like profile management and request submission.

The design emphasizes clarity, simplicity, and ease of access — helping both HR teams and employees stay aligned in a fast-moving work environment.

Overview

This project helps companies and teams build a searchable employee directory — no complex setup or technical training required.

The system supports flexible data sources and is ideal for:

  • People Ops & HR teams: Maintain up-to-date employee info and reduce repetitive questions.

  • Startups & agencies: Keep internal contacts organized as your team expands.

  • Remote & distributed teams: Stay connected regardless of location.

  • Consultants & contractors: Manage internal staff and external collaborators in one place.

Identifying Key Challenges

Managing employee data across departments, locations, and roles can quickly become messy, especially for growing or remote teams. Repetitive HR questions, outdated contact lists, and scattered documentation make team operations harder than necessary.

We also identified a need for employee autonomy — allowing team members to access or update their own data, without needing to go through HR for everything.

Resolving Complex Problems

WorkWise solves these challenges by providing:

  • A structured and clean employee directory searchable by office or department.

  • Individual profiles with contact info, roles, bios, employment types, and emergency contacts.

  • A built-in request submission system, so employees can handle their own needs (like submitting expenses or requesting time off).

  • A clear organizational chart for visualizing company hierarchy and departmental structure.

These features were designed with scalability in mind — ready to grow with the organization, whether managing interns, contractors, or full-time staff.

User-Centric Design

The interface is structured for both HR teams and employees:

  • Side Navigation for quick access to Departments, Org Charts, and Profiles.

  • Card-Based Directory for easily browsing teammates by location and team.

  • Editable Profiles for transparency and autonomy.

Design decisions prioritize usability and self-service, reducing dependency on HR and improving internal communication.

Key Features

  • Directory Search: Instantly filter employees by office, department, or name.

  • Team Overview: View organized department cards with counts and quick access.

  • Profile Pages: Include all essential details: location, emergency contacts, position, start date, and employment type.

  • Submit Requests: Easy form to request expense reimbursement or submit HR-related queries..

Conclusion

WorkWise is a scalable, no-fuss employee management app built for the realities of modern work. Whether you're a startup scaling fast or a distributed team looking to stay connected, WorkWise brings clarity, structure, and flexibility to managing people. It replaces spreadsheets and scattered tools with one smart, centralized system — designed to grow with your organization.
